Psychology Services

Neuropsychology services can be vital in helping an individual understand the changes they experience as a result of illness or injury. Our clinical neuropsychologist will assess and treat individuals helping them and their carers to understand cognitive impairments, emotional and behavioural changes as a result of a brain injury.

  • Neurobehavioral Psychology & Rehabilitation

The team at IRS are experts in supporting adults with neurological and neuropsychological rehabilitation. We understand after a brain injury it is important to treat mental health, as well as physical health.
We are a team consisting of neuro clinical psychology with specialist occupational therapists and an IT consultant. IRS offers client centred neurorehabilitation which aims to improve an individual’s independence and quality of life. This is why we are occupational therapists, so we can help people work through their challenges. This is how we help someone improve their independence by supporting an individual to achieve their emotional and physical goals.

  • Holistic Assessment Process

We understand that the factors that affect someone’s independence and quality of life are not always physical. Psychological health can have a big impact on someone’s life, especially after brain injury, from their social independence to an individual’s ability to readjust to a new way of life.

Our clinical neuropsychologist will assess using standardised assessment tools and provide objective feedback following these assessments. There will also be a process of in depth discussion with individuals and carers to help understand challenges which impact on quality of life. Following comprehensive assessment our clinical neuropsychologist will be able to discuss and agree meaningful goals with an individual and their carer.

  • Assessment

Our expert and friendly team will analyse an individual’s physical abilities and set goals that are important to the individual. We will also assess social and psychological factors that will present a challenge to achieving an individual’s goals. We focus on each individual as a person, to help them improve mental health as well as physical health.

  • Treatment

Our clinical neuropsychologist will work with the individual and their carer, to develop cognitive strategies to achieve their goals. We aim to reintegrate an individual back into their previous daily routine as much as possible. Our team provides positive behavioural support to support people with their mental well-being and emotional goals. We will work closely with individuals and those involved in their care to ensure treatment plans are implemented. Training and education will be provided where necessary.

  • Evaluation

We will work with individuals and their carers and will discuss outcome and evaluate effectiveness of our interventions. Comprehensive reports can be provided where appropriate to evidence treatment programmes and outcomes.
